This post title is "Past Easters"

I was thinking about past Easters...a long time ago Easters. Growing up I can't remember a single time that my family went to church on Easter Sunday. We always had a special dinner...ham, sweet potatoes and all the usual trimmings. We dyed boiled eggs on Saturday and colored them with food coloring...then Dad would hide them for us to find on Easter morning. By time for dinner, most of them were cracked and broken so Mom would make deviled eggs to eat with dinner. The best part of Easter was always getting a new outfit to wear. My brothers would get new white shirts, dark slacks, a tie and new dress shoes. Last year's clothes never fit the following year so every Easter everyone got a new outfit to wear. My sister and I would get new dresses and sometimes even white gloves and a hat but always a new dress and new patent leather shoes. On Easter morning, we'd get a chocolate bunny to eat and everyone would get all dressed up in our new clothes. We would usually get together with some of my aunts and uncles and cousins and grandparents. Sometimes at our house and sometimes at one of their houses. We'd all get together for the meal, though. Kids always ate at one table and the adults at another table. It was always fun to see everyone. It seems odd though that Easter is a religious holiday but we never went to church. Dressing up did make us all feel special. At least it did me!

This post title is "A Thought or Two For Easter"

What has Easter become??? I am sure there are countless ministers around the world preaching this "message" today. Many of them no doubt have good intentions while some are trying to separate as many folks from as much $$ as they can, (call this fleecing the flock), while many don't have a clue. Anyway, I was reading the KC Star comics this morning, 'For Better Or For Worse'. The pastor was "leading the flock" when a little girl leaned over and whispered to her Daddy..."when do they get to the part where Jesus meets the Easter Bunny?..." So I started thinking what has Easter become? For many it's a day to see who can wear the biggest bonnet; for others, it's all about the new outfit. Folks don't seem to realize that it is the "Internal Not The External" attributes of a person that really matters!! We should all ask and answer this question, it's personal to us all, my answer is no better than yours. For me it's a time to enjoy a good meal with the family, especially my little grandson. I saw a tee shirt yesterday that said, "A little bit of Heaven is seeing my grandson's smile." Yep, today is the day to ask and answer the question. As for me, I wonder what the Daddy's answer to the little girl was? My good friend Mule Deer Jack just told me to "hop" on down from my soap box...guess he's right... enough said!! God Bless us everyone...Oh, that's another story!

Happy Easter World!!!
